Basic Automotive Air Conditioning

Inclusive of Authorised Refrigeration Practitioner License applicable to Automotive (Safe Handling)

ABET Level 4 (Read and Write)

Basic Automotive – 116355, 116703, 116708

Authorised Refrigeration Practitioner Automotive – 116355, 116700, 116223, 116334

Objectives:

Anyone interested in working on automotive air conditioners as well as in the industries: Auto Industries, Car Manufacturers, Mining as well as their sub-contractors, Panel Beaters, Insurance Industry Assessor and Fitment Centres.

Outcomes:

On completion of this course the student will be able to:

  • Be competent to use basic tools and procedures applicable to automotive air-conditioning.
  • Understand principles of refrigeration, heat and unit used to express heat, specific heat, methods of heat transfer, latent and sensible heat, heat of compression, thermometers and their scales, atmospheric pressure, gauge pressure, absolute pressure, effect of pressure on boiling point of liquid, mechanical refrigeration cycle.
  • Leak testing apply leak testing methods.
  • Components – identify and explain automotive components and their function thereof, ie. Compressor, condenser, evaporation, receiver drier, accumulator, orifice tube and expansion valve.

Example of Skills:

Repairs and maintenance as required of automotive and mobile air conditioning systems.

Duration:

5 days, Monday to Friday, from 08:00 to 15:00.

Price Excludes:

Saracca Reg. fee of R 2 530.00 incl. vat payable directly towards SARACCA. On successful completion of the course the candidate has to apply for the License Card via SARACCA 2 colour id photos, certified copy of id, certified copy of Acra Certificate and Trade Test Certificate (if applicable) should be attached to the application / emailed to SARACCA. Candidates who apply for the license card will also be registered on the website www.saqccgas.co.za
On successful completion of the course if the candidate does not apply for the Safe Handling Card within 6 months from successful completion of course – the candidate will have to redo the training.

  • A copy of Identity Document
