Objective:

For the person who needs to join and install refrigerant piping and accessories in accordance with a sketch, a drawing or standard instructions to form a system that is leak proof, will convey refrigerant and ensure proper oil return to the compressor. Typically this work will fall into an installers (Air conditioning and refrigeration) scope of work.

Outcome:

Identification of piping used for refrigeration installations.Work planning. Pipe jointing and installation procedures. Requirements for a system suitable for correct operation. Read drawings. Installation of pipework including fixing methods. Use tooling, benders, leak detection methods. All pipe joining methods including brazing. Use of nitrogen. Full workshop training component. Form brazed joints. Copper to copper brazed joints are made correctly. Copper to brass brazed joints are made correctly. Internal surfaces are inherently free of scale upon completion of the brazing process. Filler material has penetrated the entire joint. The consequences of not using nitrogen when brazing are listed and explained. The consequences of using the wrong filler material are listed and explained. The advantages and disadvantages of the various brazed jointing methods are listed and explained. Form non-brazed joints. Flared joints are formed correctly. Flanged joints are formed correctly. Compression joints are formed correctly. Threaded joints are formed correctly. The advantages and disadvantages of the various non-brazed jointing methods are listed and explained. Install piping and accessories. Test installation for leaks. Clear site and hand over the installation.
