Thank you for considering using the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Academy. We can assure you of the highest standards in training. The Academy has the resources to train all aspects of the air conditioning and refrigeration fields up to technician level. The emphasis is on adult training, training of apprentices and learnerships, artisans and technicians. The training is competency based, meaning, any student attending a course is given an in depth theoretical knowledge and the practical skills in order to achieve competency in the workplace. Given the nature of the training required all courses have a full practical element. The aim of all the training is such that on completion of any particular course the student will be capable to do the job as required. The industries professional institute and controlling bodies have been consulted in order to achieve consistently high standards.
We furthermore carry full accreditation with merSETA for all our courses as well as Learnerships and Apprenticeships from level two (2) to level four (4). All courses are certificated or carry a diploma. ACRA is a merSETA Accredited Decentralised Trade Test Centre for the trade – Refrigeration Mechanic (commercial/industrial). The training format has been developed around the requirements of the various businesses, as well as to conform to the latest methods in training techniques. The training is flexible in order for the employer to lay down the training requirements best suited for his environment, and any time and money spent on unnecessary training can be avoided. If so desired it may be possible, under certain circumstances, to present courses at the client’s premises. In keeping with industry and Trade Testing standards the pass mark required is set at 60%. Courses are constantly updated in order to keep abreast of technological advances made by the industry.
The Academy carries FULL ACCREDITATION (merSETA) for the training of apprenticeships, learnerships and training courses in air conditioning and refrigeration levels 2 through to 4, as well as QCTO (Quality Council for Trades & Occupations), NAMB (National Artisan Moderation Body) and DHET (Department of Higher Education and Training) Decentralised Assessment Centre status for Trade Testing and licensing for Safe Handling of Refrigerants for the South African Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Contractors Association (SARACCA). All courses are therefore recognised and are nationally and internationally certificated and/or licensed or carry a Diploma.
We have all necessary documentation in place including:
The monitoring process.
The full set of documentation regarding assessments.
The requirements for workplace providers.
The training material.
The documents necessary to manage the learnerships.
We have the capacity to not only train the candidates but also to monitor the learnerships, assess all standards necessary and to manage the learnerships. We can conduct any assessment as may be required by the full scope of the standards, we currently have seven assessors on staff. We were nominated by merSETA as lead training provider to conduct the necessary training and to manage and monitor the Level 2 pilot projects and therefore have intimate knowledge of the requirements of the companies, the learners and the SETA.
